We are a volunteer-led community group caring for the beloved community cats of Bonifacio Global City. Through feeding, TNVR, medical care, and adoption โ we give every cat a chance at a better life.
Bonifacio Global City, Taguig
Home to hundreds of community cats cared for by volunteers and the community
Cats of BGC is a dedicated group of volunteers โ residents and office workers in Bonifacio Global City โ who independently and voluntarily care for the community cats in the area. We are not an animal shelter. We are everyday cat lovers who feed, monitor, TNVR, and find homes for BGC's beloved feline residents.
Volunteers are assigned to feeding stations across BGC and feed the community cats daily, monitoring their health and watching for new arrivals that need TNVR.
We pay for vet visits, vaccinations, deworming, flea treatments, and emergency care. Cats with chronic conditions receive ongoing medication and monitoring.
We collaborate with CARA Welfare Philippines, Biyaya Animal Care, and local vet clinics for TNVR efforts and the best possible care.
TNVR is the most humane and scientifically proven method to manage community cat populations. Instead of removing cats โ which creates a vacuum that attracts new cats โ TNVR stabilizes colonies, improves cat health, and gradually reduces numbers over time.
Community cats are humanely trapped using baited humane traps. Feeders identify new, un-neutered cats during their daily rounds.
Cats are spayed (females) or neutered (males) by licensed veterinarians. The surgery is quick, usually under 30 minutes.
While under anesthetic, cats receive rabies vaccinations and other necessary shots, protecting both cats and the community.
After 2โ3 days of recovery, cats are returned to their original territory. An ear tip marks them as neutered and vaccinated.
Stops the breeding cycle. A single unspayed female can produce up to 3 litters per year. TNVR halts exponential growth.
Reduces nuisance behaviors. Neutered cats are less likely to fight, spray, howl, or roam aggressively.
Prevents the vacuum effect. Removing cats only creates space for new, unvaccinated cats to move in and breed.
Natural rodent control. Community cats keep the rat population in check โ vital in urban areas like BGC.
Public health protection. Vaccinated colonies prevent rabies spread, protecting humans and animals.
How to Identify TNVR Cats
Look for a small notch or "tip" on one ear. The right ear indicates a spayed female; the left ear indicates a neutered male. This is done painlessly while under anesthetic.
We are committed to finding loving, permanent homes for our community cats. All interested adopters and fosters go through a screening process. No adoption fees โ just good homes.
Give a community cat a permanent home as a member of your family. You commit to feeding, loving, and providing veterinary care for the cat for its lifetime.
Temporarily care for a cat until a permanent adopter is found. Vital for kittens, cats recovering from illness, or cats needing socialization before adoption.
Fill out the adoption interest form at bit.ly/adoptaBGCcat. Covers basic requirements like landlord permission, existing pets, and living situation.
Agree on a convenient time for a 30-minute Zoom chat. We'll discuss which cats might be a match and answer any questions.
Get your space cat-ready โ food bowls, litter box, safe hiding spots. We'll provide guidance on what your new cat needs.
Agree on a handover date, meet your new fur baby, and start your life together. We love receiving updates and photos!
Time Commitment
Roughly 1โ2 hours per week, depending on your assigned area and number of cats.
Area Assignment
You'll be assigned to a feeding station. Cats are territorial, so stations are organized by their preferred territory.
Health Monitoring
During feeding, observe and report each cat's condition โ weight changes, injuries, new arrivals.
Spotting New Cats
Feeders identify un-neutered cats (no ear tip) for TNVR scheduling โ critical for population control.
Purely Voluntary
Unpaid volunteer work. Volunteers may need to purchase cat food and other feeding supplies.
Our volunteer feeding program is the backbone of everything we do. Feeders are our eyes and ears on the ground โ they don't just provide food, they monitor each cat's health and flag concerns needing vet attention.
It's a small time investment with huge impact โ many feeders find it a rewarding break from screen time and a great way to connect with fellow cat lovers. Whether you're a BGC resident, office worker, or just someone who loves cats, there's a place for you in the program.
"It has been a very fulfilling journey."

What started as a few cat lovers in BGC grew into a coordinated volunteer group operating independently to help the feline residents of Bonifacio Global City. The group partners with CARA Welfare Philippines and Biyaya Animal Care to conduct TNVR missions, coordinate feedings, and facilitate adoptions.
In February 2018, the group faced its biggest challenge when dozens of community cats were removed from the High Street park area. The incident made national headlines and sparked massive public outcry. CARA and Cats of BGC worked tirelessly to locate the displaced cats and ensure the remaining colony's safety.
Since then, the community has only grown stronger. Feeding routes have expanded, TNVR missions continue regularly, and the group has successfully rehomed hundreds of cats. Despite ongoing challenges, the volunteers persist โ driven by love and the belief that every cat deserves compassion.
